Words cannot express the sadness we feel. Hiraki was an outstanding individual who made us smile each day. He had a gentle demeanor; he was calm, curious, and happy. During his year with us, Hiraki learned to become more independent, he improved his English, and he would try different activities to push himself out of his comfort zone. More importantly, Hiraki made many friends and we have many fond memories of him which we will cherish. Who can forget his witty sense of humor, his love of baseball, always laughing with his friends and watching him skip rocks at the lake. It was truly an honor knowing Hiraki and he will be forever remembered as part of boarding family.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and dear friends.

Thank you so much for your warm message at such an early time, and again, we sincerely appreciate your dedication to us even after his return to Japan. My husband and I went to Switzerland, including Lausanne and Zermatt, this summer 2025. We felt and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and Alpine mountain views, and we experienced some unimaginable things. Hiraki could not be with us, but his pockets are full of memories like ski tickets, entrance tickets, receipts, stones, BB bullets, ketchup packets, and so on... I know you can easily imagine! 🙂 If you have a chance to visit Japan, please feel free to contact me. (Megumi Izumoji Sep 27, 2025)
I wanted to extend my condolences to Hiraki’s family. I cannot begin to imagine the sorrow that you all must feel now. I met Hiraki in Switzerland as a study coach in the boarding house. He was always such a sweet, smart and responsible boy and I was really sad to know he was leaving Switzerland but I knew he missed being home so I was thrilled for him. I still tear up thinking about this. I wish Hiraki’s parents lots if strength during these difficult times.
Here is a photo of him and Kimera doing pizza that I took at the beginning of the year.

Hi, Eric. Thank you so much for your heart-warming message and a photo with Kimera. I sincerely apologize for my very late reply. It has been over one year, but our hearts are still aching so much. Hiraki was just a young boy but he left incredible memories. We found some of his cloud data including Champitette homework several months after his passing. I assume that you helped him complete it. Alongside the homework, Hiraki saved his recently completed summer work about his hometown and the history of fish... funny but full of love. I would like to share those files with you, if you like. If you have a chance, please contact me at megizumoji@gmail.com. (Megumi Izumoji, Sep 27, 2025)

I am deeply saddened by the passing of our former student Hiraki, who was liked by everyone here at school. He leaves a good memory with us. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

Thank you so much for reaching out so promptly. My family and I deeply appreciate the sincere condolences that you and everyone at Collège de Champittet have shown us. I fondly remember the first day Hiraki and I met you in Tokyo. It was the moment when fieldwork on insect eating and triceratops allowed Hiraki, a man of curiosity, to spread his wings. Please continue to expand the possibilities for many children going forward. Thank you very much.
